Aggar is a suspense thriller about intertwining relationships. Based on the story of a woman who discovers that being attracted to the wrong man can have deadly consequences, the film presents itself in an intense noir-like theme.
Janvi (Udita Goswami) is a successful businesswoman married to Dr Adi Merchant (Shreyas Talpade), who is a psychiatrist. As is the case with most relationships involving professional careers the two drifts apart. Their relationship suffers a further setback when Aryan (Tusshar Kapoor) makes it to Janvi’s life.
Being receptive towards acquaintances is something Janvi is not used to, but something about Aryan makes her believe he would help her rediscover her life. On the contrary he makes Janvi’s life more complex and realizing her folly Janvi tries to break free. But Aryan’s dangerous obsession with her is too deep to be overcome easily.
What follows is jeopardy to the lives of Dr Adi and Janvi. ‘Aggar’ promises to be an intense film about betrayal and passion. With all the essential elements of a thriller in it, ‘Aggar’ is sure to be an entertaining addition to the year’s already growing list of thriller successes.
Director Anant Narayan Mahadevan says, “When we started planning for Aggar, we did not want to tread the paths of an action thriller. We wanted to go the suspense way and make complicated relationships for the base of our film. Alfred Hitchcock’s stories have long played upon the tension that arises due to compelling relationships and we knew that incorporating the same idea in a contemporary film would be great. Aggar is our second step after Aksar, in an attempt to build on a trilogy of suspense thrillers. It’s very easy for thrillers to be repetitive and instill the same old elements and shocks to make the formula work, but through our films we are trying to refresh the art of making thrillers. Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade have done an excellent job of portraying their characters and Udita Goswami will be seen in a completely different look . Aggar has allowed all the actors to achieve a balance of commercial mainstream acting along with character sensibility. The film’s music is designed by Mithoon and I must say it’s come out five on five. Aggar has been modelled to appeal to both traditional and multiplex audiences and will definitely be a step forward for us from Aksar.”
