Summer cannot get more special with one good film arriving after another. This time it happens to be one of the most awaited films of the season ‘Shankardada Zindabad’, an enjoyable entertaining comedy sequel to ‘Shankardada MBBS’. Both the films are scene to-scene remake Rajkumar Hirani’s original series, but nevertheless they’re very enjoyable. Chiranjeevi’s larger-than-life image coupled with some pleasing numbers makes this a worthy watch.

Lovable don Shankardada (Chiranjeevi) and his good friend ATM (Srikanth) are set for a new journey. Shankardada is very much infatuated by Radio Jockey Jhanvi (Karishma Kotak) and her voice and soon his feelings turn to love. But he cannot reveal to her that he is a don and conceals his identity as a professor and a true Gandhian. He wins a contest answering questions on Bapu and gets a chance to meet her at the studio. He learns that Jhanvi helps the old and destitute people and runs an old age home. He lies to her about his identity and ends up in difficult situations. But supporting him in his testing time is Gandhiji whose teachings and principles he adopts reluctantly but later which turns into unconditional faith.

Rajalingam (Sayaji Shinde) is a dishonest builder who has been using Shankardada and ATM to vacate plots and houses. Also he fixes up his daughter Sandhya’s (Sada) marriage by lying to her prospective in-laws that her horoscope is clean. He has his eyes set on `Second Innings`, the bungalow where Jhanvi and the old home is. Shankardada, sorts out the issues with his ‘Gandhigiri’ and this is what the film is all about.

The star cast pulls the film through and is the USP. Chiranjeevi’s charisma on screen is contagious as he delivers fantastic one-liners, impresses with his screen presence, and entertains with his comedy timing and dance antics. Srikanth does amazingly well. Sayaji Shinde brings out a new side of him playing a comical villain. Newcomer Kashmira however falters and is no match to Vidya Balan who did the original. Dilip Prabhawalkar as Gandhiji excels. Dharmavarapu, Venu Madhav and Sunil are good. Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja and Nagendra Babu are in guest roles. Pawan Kalyan is the surprising factor at the end.

The film is a carbon copy of the original and in that regard director Prabhu Deva doesn’t have anything new to offer. The music by Devi Sri Prasad is one of the best parts of the enterprise.

‘Shankardada Zindabad’ comes as a clean family entertainer if one doesn’t mind sitting through the remake version, which is a replica of the original.
