Director: Shiva Shakti Datt
Cast: Astha Singhal, Harnath Policherla
Music: Keeravani MM

Noted lyricist and father of famous musician Keeravani, Sivashakti Datta is all set to graduate from writer to director with his debut flick ‘Chandrahaas’ written by the lyricist himself. NRI producer Haranath Policharla produces this fantasy-ridden flick.

This fanciful story revolves round Sivaji (Haranath) who was the successor of the Maratha King Chatrapati Sivaji. He has grown up on the stories of ‘Chandrahaas’, the sword, presented to his forefather by Tulja Bhavani Mata. Once in course of story telling, his mother said him that the sword is very potent and was hidden at some secret place. She also said that the sword should be used astutely and if the sword ever falls into wrong hands, the upshot would be very dangerous.

Sivaji’s father Chatrapati (Saratbabu) and his neighbour Gaffar (Hariprasad) were on very good terms. Even Sivaji and Gaffar’s son Firoj (Abbas) were good friends and so was his sister Haseena. They grew up together. When they grew young, Sohail (Ravi Prakash) came with the offer to marry Haseena.

Conversely, a group of Muslim insurgents under the name of Jihad led by Liaqat Ali Khan (Puneet Issar) are trying to undermine India. Sivaji with the assistance of Apsara (Astha Singhal) finds out Chandrahaas.  With the help of this mighty sword he slays Liaqat's brother Asad (Satya Prakash) who tried to kill him. He happens to attack Sohail with this sword that shatters the 40-year-long friendship between the two families forever.

Seeing the bloodshed and chaos the sword has caused, Sivaji’s mother advises him to return it back to Tulja Bhavani. Meanwhile Sohail murders Gaffar and Haseena happens to be the sole witness of this dreary incident but everybody thinks that it is Sivaji who has slayed the man. Meanwhile, Liaqat abducts Apsara's mother for Chandrahaas. Sivaji kills him too and reinstates peace. Firoj who believes that Sivaji killed his father tries to do away with him until Haseena discloses that it is Sohail who murdered their father. Seeing the truth he express regret to Sivaji.

Haranath in the lead role is simply amazing. Astha Singhal too is very good in the flick. This beauty sizzles the screen with her scintillating looks, sizzling shakes and sensuous exposing. But the real show stealer is Krishna who simply amazes in his episodic appearance.

The director ropes in his son MM Keeravani to tune out the tracks. But the results aren’t very endearing. Even the dialogues aren’t very competent. The film meets with a poor outcome simply because of its meager narration, dull screenplay, and old commercial formula that hardly goes down well with the audience.

Apart from Krishna’s brilliant presence and Astha Singhal’s glamour and grace there is nothing much to talk about this sore film. A sad affair indeed!
