Ravichandran latest quixotic entertainer ‘Urchagam’ starring Nandha and Sherin is his new film to hit the block. Making his comeback with this film is the musical genius Ranjit Barot. Lets see if the director can again stir magic with his musical wand!
The album buzzes off with ‘Kangal’ rendered outstandingly well by Zubeen Garg of Bollywood fame. This electrifying track is stylishly done and is imbued with a western touch. Rap note are interspersed throughout that has a good mix of English and Tamil lyrics. A potential track that has already started to create waves among the listeners. Splendid opening by Ranjit indeed!
After impressing with a sultry and jazzy track, Ranjit returns to lilting carnatic music in ‘Naram Pookal’ that is a good brew of carnatic and western music. Rendered in the saccharine sweet voice of Hariharan and Nandhini Srikar, it has some incredible lyrics by Vairamuthu. Ranjit is quite at home in handling this kind of tracks and as always he does a superb job here.
Bollywood’s reigning singing sensation Kunal Ganjawala croons out the next number ‘Veyil’ that nicks with Arabic strains in the opening. The track moves at a slow pace that further accentuates the feel of it. The music is impressive and so is the rendition. The rhythm is good that uplifts it to a different plane. A sumptuous musical treat altogether!
‘Nanbha Nanbha’ is another Kunal Ganjawala track rendered with equal passion and poise by the singer. Kunal’s diction is just perfect and that adds to the grace of the song. This is another pacy song that grows slowly on the listener. Another hit delivery by the musician.
‘Nethu Vecha’ is a feisty song rendered with full zest by Gayatri Ganjawala and Vijay Prakash. This track has some nice elements of folk music and makes for a joyous hearing. Repeated hearing of the track is sure to electrify. Another nice over from the musician.
Ranjit Barot again proves his meticulousness with this soundtrack that makes for a great hearing. A must buy album for all music fanatics.
