This is the story of Ashu and his friend Ganesha. The narrative mainly whirls around Ashu’s family comprising his father Aaditya, mother Aarti, aunt Aditi, and his maid Gangubai. Ashu’s parents are very busy people who scarcely have any time to spent with their kid. His only mate in the house is his maid with whom he gets along very well.
On one drizzly day, Ashu salts away a mouse from getting drowned. He takes the mouse to his maid who tells him that he has done a very righteous work by saving the life of Lord Ganesha's pet ride. Ashu finds it difficult to understand and hence Gangubai narrates to him the entire incident of Lord Ganesha and Mushakraj. She also tells him that Lord Ganesha can be his companion.
Ashu who often suffered over his loneliness feels overjoyed when Gangubai tells him that Lord Ganesha can be his friend. At that time, incidentally, his family happens to run through a tough phase with Ganesh festival nearing its date.
Gangubai manages to persuade her master to bring home Ganesha this festival so that they can surmount all their problems with God’s blessings. Ashu feels overjoyed listening to all these and finally Ganesha enters their home. Things begin to improve after this. Ganesha becomes Ashu’s best buddy and together they go around cracking diverse troubles. Both of them have great fun during Ganesha’s eleven-day stay in their house.
