This film is supposedly an entertaining thriller. Initially what appears to be an unusual dark comedy may just turn out to be an assortment of absurdities in the end. Director Sanjay Khanduri who debuts with this flick may be disappointed to mark the twirl in the tale. All his intentions are ruined as he comes up with a film impregnated with crudeness, stiff characters and far-fetched situations that fumble away from its goal.
A stranger Nilesh (Abhay Deol) skips the last local and squanders in the night getting involved in a series of upheavals until the next local and ends up making Rs 2.5 crores. Now this can be called as the ultimate bizarre story that one can said to have come up with in the recent times.
Nilesh, a call center executive misses his train and how this incident proves to be a turning point in his life forms the crux of this film. Nilesh runs into Madhu (Neha Dhupia) at the platform, who too like him has missed the 1:40 train. As there is an auto strike, the two must wait for the next train to arrive. Together they head towards a bar to spend some time until the next train arrives. And from here begins the weird sequence of events.
Along with the main plot, there are several sub plots running in parallel. For instance, there is an analogous story of a rich man whose son is abducted by Gang A and must pay a ransom of Rs 2.5 crores to free his child. Meanwhile, Gang B wants to filch the money from Gang A, which subjects to a host of boring over-the-top characters. Back at the bar, Nilesh gets occupied with gambling and ends up in a fracas with a hooligan.
In the end it also becomes clear that Madhu is Mala, a prostitute who was out to hook in a client. The entire film is caught amidst the killing enterprises of one gangster or another and with Nilesh getting the huge sum.
Abhay Deol with his innocent looks appears lost within this labyrinthine script. Neha Dhupia’s acting is mediocre. Other than one or two tracks, the rest of the songs are better ignored.
This film had great promise, but sadly it turned out to be a disaster. In a nutshell, a disappointing affair.
