‘Ek Chalis Ki Last Local’ is presented by Bharat Shah and is the debut film of writer-director Sanjay Khanduri. The film revolves around the lead protagonist Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia is paired opposite him. The soundtrack comprises situational tracks offered by an ensemble of composers Call The Band, Sandesh Shandilya, Ankur, Tknow Frankcorsi and Aqueel & Sanjiv. Let’s check out what’s the album has in store.

'Laree Choote' begins with the sound of a chugging train in the background and Abhay Deol chipping a few lines in between. Xulfi of Call The Band writes and renders the number along with another female voice, which revolves around the transitions that happens in life. It is a nicely orchestrated number with a rock base giving a new feel to this decent enjoyable number. There is the 'remix version' credited to DJ Suketu and Aks bringing in added pace making it a worthy groovy foot tapping score.

Sandesh Shandilya gets unconventional for 'Ekka Chauka' with music to lend your ear. Alisha Chinai leads the song while Sandesh Shandilya chips the title line. It’s a situational feel with saxophone playing a dominant role leaving a haunting effect on you. The song comes later in the album as 'Title version' by composer Tknow Frankcorsi who has created slight difference with the different arrangement.

'Bheegi Seeli Si' as the lyrics suggests is a romantic track with the overall credit for the song going to Ankur Tewari for writing, composing and singing the number. The track has a certain Indi-pop feel to it with a mix of jazz and pop. Ankur goes for the tried and tested method for this track and is commendable for coming up with a good song that would certainly click with the youth.

Tknow Frankcorsi fails to come up with tracks that are literally lilting. His two versions of 'Akh', called the 'Film' and 'Dance' falls short to create any impact. Rashmi and Anoushka croon the songs that hardly sound promising. Also the lyrics are not the ones to rave about coming from the pedestrian quality. It is an overall average track though attempt has been made to pep it up with techno feel.

Alisha Chinai takes her turn once again with Sonu Nigam for the theme track 'Panga'. The tempo is catchy as the singers narrate about the 'pangas' a couple will have to face after missing the last local. Aqueel & Sanjiv composes the number, which has lyrics by Mehboob.

If you intend to hear 'Ek Chalis Ki Last Local' as a musical then certainly the scores are not your kind. Most of them are theme tracks with a different sound of music that surely would make you sit up and take notice. For an entertaining time, you can catch up with the album that certainly isn’t going to disappoint you. Have a nice listening!
