There is something very fascinating about the soundtrack of ‘Mozhi’. Anybody glancing on the list of songs will be stunned to find that there is no duet in the entire soundtrack. Vidyasagar, the composer scarcely makes us feel the slaughter as he handles the solos flawlessly well. In ‘Mozhi’ he offers seven authentic tracks that not only soothe the senses but also touches the mind. All the seven tracks leave behind a lasting impression on the mind.
Vidyasagar gives full reign to the horses of his imagination in this album and he is willfully shored up by the film’s producer Prakash Raj in this affair. ‘Mozhi’ is a handsome mixture of verse and piousness.
The very first track to feature in the album is ‘Mouname Unnidam’. Sung by Srinivas, this song is pregnant with melody and sweetness. Vidyasagar works magic with the lyrics and Srinivas’s subtle vocals adds to the charm of the song.
Subsequently trails ‘Aazha Kannal’ which is a captivating combo of Tipu’s excellent rendition, poignant piano tunes and charming chimes of various instruments. The song ends with a whistle that imparts further calmness to the track.
‘En Jannalil Therivadhu’ leaves you in a state of trance. Karthik voices out this track in full throttle. The punch in this track just sways your feet away from the ground.
Then follows ‘Pesaa Madandhaiye’ where Madhu Balakrishnan’s outstanding vocals completely mesmerize. Vidyasagar offers an interesting mix of intrepid beats and scrumptious violin strains that lingers in our minds long after the track is over.
‘Kaatrin Mozhiye’ the next track, for the first time, features a female voice. Sujatha is enchanting in this track. Vidyasagar keeps the music low and allows the arresting lyrics and sweetness of Sujatha’s voice to do the trick. Vidyasagar makes Balram sing out the male version of the track, which is equally enthralling.
The next track in store is ‘Kannal Pesum Penne’ hummed by endearing SPB. This track is again a celebration of tranquility. The trumpet notes almost parcels you to a different world altogether. The music in this track is contagious and the lyrics are equally stunning.
The last track to find its way into the album is ‘Sevvanam Sellakatti’. This one is crooned by Jassie Gift and is a supple mass track that offers a perfect ending to this exceptionally harmonious album.
The soundtrack of ‘Mozhi’ offers a relief from all those conundrum beats that chew up our ears. A compilation of great music, this album finds its place in the hearts of all music admirers. On the whole a beautiful album!
