Director Srinivasa’s latest silver screen offering in the block is Navadeep and Ekta Khosla starrer ‘Poramboku’ produced by Krishna Reddy. Srinivasa did not avail much chance to showcase his dexterity in the film since Tollywood Talkies afforded the story. Sadly, the film is another run-of-the-mill potboiler that bores the audience to tears. This sluggishly handled routine stuff is hardly worth a watch.

The story moves around Karthik who is a good for nothing fellow. Although born of well-to-do parents, he simply idles away the day chasing after his silly dreams. His father (Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam) is a landlord, but Karthik hardly assists him in his work. Rather he dreams of becoming an actor someday since his deceased mother always said that he looked like a hero. His sister has brought him up with great love and affection. One day he gets a call from a reputed Film Institute to study films but he has to pay Rs 1 lakh as fees. This disappoints the young man and he drops into depression.

But luck favors him when an urban filmmaker Chaitra (Ekta Khosla) comes to his village with the plan of making a tele-film. Karthik is overjoyed at this prospect and together with the aid of his friends try to cash in the opportunity. But in the meantime Chaitra's foster mother (Vadivukkarasi) sends hoodlums to track her but she luckily escapes.

Meanwhile, Karthik’s sister arranges for money and somehow manages to put together Rs 50,000. She gives away the money to Karthik and advises him to go to Hyderabad to pursue his dreams. There he once again stumbles upon Chaitra. Karthik struggles to get a break and finally he lands on an opportunity to act in a film. Karthik together with Chaitra goes out to celebrate his success when goons once again attack Chaitra but Karthik saves her. After that Chaitra reveals to him that she has a step-mom who has brought her up like her own daughter. But later Chaitra realized that all her love was fake and that she was actually after her property and wanted to attain it by getting her married to her brother Satti.

In the meantime, Karthik realizes that he has fallen in love with Chaitra. Karthik manages to get a break in a film but fatefully his love stands in the way of his dream and success. But the young man decides to let go off his dream for the sake of his love. On the other hand, Chaitra too decides to marry Satti as she doesn’t want to stand in the way of Karthik’s dream. But in the end the two lovers unite as Chaitra’s mother realizes her fault and the film ends on the happy note with Kartik becoming an actor.

Actor Navadeep is good in action as well as sentimental scenes. But the debutante actress Ekta Khosla is plain bad. Satyam Rajesh and Suman Setty are moderate in their efforts. Camerawork by Jawahar Reddy is quite commendable. The action sequence by Ram-Lakshman lacks enough punch. Comedy by Raghubabu and MS Narayana is bland. A meager script assisted by dull screenplay reduces the film to ashes.

Music by Manisharma adds to the pity of the film. The musician fails to deliver any good track here that further contributes to our disappointment. The poor script murders the film and makes it for a real bad watch.
