‘Madhumasam’ is an adaptation of Balabhadrapatruni Ramani's novel, directed by Chandrasiddhartha and the production is taken care by Dr D Ramanaidu. This film stars Sumanth, Sneha and Parvati Melton in pivotal leads. Manisharma is assigned for composing the music for this flick.
The first track to tune in is ‘Devadasu Kanna’ crooned by Karthik and Bhargavi. This is a melodious track coupled with western punch. The first stanza is preceded by notes from harmonium and succeeded by gripping notes of the guitar. The drumbeats also add to the flavor. Bhargavi’s rendition brings a western knock into the song. Manisharma once again mesmerizes the listeners with his combination of the western and the classical.
‘Valentine’ is hummed by Rahul Nambiyar and Rita. This one is a party number with lyrics emphasizing on the pains and pleasure of love. The innovative use of saxophone and keyboard deserves special mention. Manisharma once again thrills with his lethal combo of eastern and western melodies.
Then follows ‘Promise Chestuvunna’ a duet sung by Ranjith and Rita. Manisharma settles for uncomplicated music in order to boost the enchanting love lyrics and the feel of this track. His likeness for saxophone is evident as it finds a special place in the song. The interlude is stuffed with violin adding to the cadence. The soft feel of the number has been preserved and not unnecessarily goaded with loud beats.
‘Oohale’ is a romantic number crooned by Chitra and Karthik. Music whiz Manisharma tunes with saxophone while guitar, trumpet, mandolin and other traditional musical tools does the rest of exertion. Chitra’s rendition parcels the listeners all in all to a different world.
Thereafter comes ‘Oni Merupulu’ which has a very old feel to it especially because of its employment of old rhythms. This track rendered by Ranjit, Jayadevl and Muralidhar is most probably a group song. Piano and other conventional musical instruments have been judiciously employed. This track may not be well appreciated by the young generation for its older essence.
The last one to find its way in the soundtrack is ‘Vasantham’ fashioned after old genre of music. Sung by Ranjit and Rita, it has a poignant feel and the singers very well arrest that feel here. Liberal use of flute notes and guitar along with drum thumps add to the feel. But this track cannot be said to find a place into the young audiences hearts.
The soundtrack of this film very well compliments the script but lack of jazzy and groovy songs works against its popularity. In totality a good jamming of the eastern and western mix.
