‘Muni’ is directed by Lawrence Raghavendra and the production is handled by producer-director Saran. Bharadwaj once again unite with Saran’s production team to churn out few more hits for his next release. Bharadwaj dishes out some peppy tracks especially for the frontbenchers. His tunes are sure to rock the listeners. He employs effective instrumentation but is cautious not to outdo the lyrics at the same time.

‘Asaah Pussah Loveu’, a captivating romantic duet opens the album. This track has composed instrumentation and enticing lyrics and is inspired from folk notes. It has a tangy melody. Bharadwaj here successfully interfuses Carnatic melody with folk notes. Karthik is at his usual best while Janani Bharadwaj also delivers to the best of her ability.

The next one is ‘Thalai Suthuthae Maami’ hummed by Bharadwaj himself jointly with Kavitha. This one is more of a rap song jazzed up with trumpets and drums that impart a western appeal. Kavitha croons with an Anglicized accent that goes well with the song. Bharadwaj fuses bhangra beats in the interludes that further perk it up.

Follows ‘Gulla Gulla Dracula’ another peppy number to find its place in the disc. Sung by Naveen, this is a song about evils and witchcrafts as the very unnerving title of this track suggests.

‘Suru Suru Susuravathi’ is a number for the frontbenchers. KK delivers with full zest. Anuradha Sriram pours out in her typical style. This song has a good segment of dholaks, thavil and nadhaswaram to add up some extra punch.

‘Varaanda Muni’ is the title track for the album. This is a shaky number brimming with vigor. Krishnaraj returns back from his musical sojourn with this. An attractive employment of musical appliances in concert with lyrics glorifies the hero. A frisky song to tune into!

The album winds up with ‘Thalai Suthuthae Maama’, repeated once again. But here Ranjith instead of Bharadwaj does the rendition. This is more of a rap song that has been beautifully embellished with drums and trumpets.

The overall impression of this soundtrack is melodious. Bharadwaj is great as ever in this new album and supplies some more chart buster hits. In totality a nice collection!
