Audio Review : Risk - Just passé

Director: Vishram Sawant
Cast: Randeep Hooda, Seema Biswas, Tanushree Datta, Vinod Khanna
Music: Akbar Sami, Bapi-Tutul
Singers:  Sonu Kakkar, Kunal Ganjawala, Krishna

Tentatively titled 'Risk', the film sketches the life of an honest policeman and his fight with the underworld. You can expect lots of action from this Vishram Sawant directorial starring Vinod Khanna and Randeep Hooda in the lead along with Tanushree Dutta. With action and drama taking the precedence in the film, music takes backstage. But 'Hitchki' does arise some interest to take a look at the proceedings of the album. There are many composers and lyricist who’ve contributed to the album. Let’s find out about them.

DJ Akbar Sami popular for remixing composes the naughty and peppy number 'Hitchki'. Sonu Kakkar who bagged the limelight with 'Babuji' wields the mike in full spirit. Amitabh writes the track. An ideal mass number that will be grabbed due to its sensual and catchy appeal. Following it is the much expected remix version by Akbar Sami, which sounds more pepped up with the addition of western flavour.

Bapi Tutul composes the background number 'Lakhon Karodo Mein Koyi Leta Hai Risk'. This fast paced number should go well if placed in a situation in the film. Krishan does the rendition for the song written by Sandeep Nath who speaks about the challenges. There is a 'Trance' version of the track called as 'Le Le Risk'.  With the fusion feel the composers have tried to do something different to it but without much success.

Title theme track 'Risk’ follows once again with Bapi-Tutul at the helm. It is a short musical piece ignited with haunting feel. Lapped with good pace and less instruments this should be placed during a dark moment in the film.

Like the other tracks of the album imbued with dark music 'Kali Sadke' also follows the same path. A situational track that would go fine in the film it has Kunal Ganjawala rendering with a husky feel. Sandesh Shandilya composes the fast paced track loaded with heavy orchestra. Sudhir's lyrics convey the mindset of the protagonist in view of the things happening around him.

In one word the soundtrack of ‘Risk’ is blatant. The songs are situational in nature and sans appeal. 'Hitchki' is the only song of the album that stands out with the rest of the songs being just passé.
