Movie Review : Kannum Kannum

Producer: Mohan Radha
Director: Marimuthu G
Cast: Prasanna, Udhayathara
Music: Dhina

Debutant director Marimuthu gives an unconventional route to the Tamil cinema with a different story to which he has given a distinctively different treatment.

Prasanna is an orphan. He pens down his feelings in a poem but he doesn’t send it to any magazine. In a magazine he comes across a poem written by a girl which is quite similar to the feelings of his poem. He is amused to discover that he and the girl shares similar kinds of feelings. He finds out that she is a collage student living in Kutralam. He writes a letter to her and gets a reply. Their friendship evolves into love. He goes to Kutralam to meet the girl and put up in a friend’s house. She is the sister of his friend and is out on college tour. So it is luck which doesn’t bring them together.

After intermission the friend dies in a mishap accidentally caused by Prasanna. Prasanna thus takes the responsibility of his friend and considers his friend’s sisters as his own sister. After the girl returns she finds a new brother, who is supposed to be her lover. The rest of the story follows to a well executed climax.

Prasanna is riding on success with 'Saadhu Miranda' and 'Anjathey'. With this film he makes it a hat trick. For this role which is quite challenging he has brought forth his capacity. His portrayal of the pain evokes sympathy among audiences. Udayathara also delivers well her complex character. Her expressions throughout the film are amazing. Haarish has a small role but he does it significantly well. Vijayakumar is also good. Vadivelu’s comedy track is enjoyable.
