Marimuthu’s next offering on line is ‘Kannum Kannum’ starring Prasanna and Malayalam actress Udhayathara. 'Manmadharasa' Dheena dishes out an array of scores for this flick. A lot of stress has been laid on the lyrics penned down by Vairamuthu. Noted for his racy trend, Dheena deviates from his usual style to serve something different this time. The album holds five tracks that radiate lots of anticipation.
The track opens with ‘Padhinettu Vayasu’, which is a lively song with decent orchestration. The song is about a modern Tamil girl and the trials and tribulations encountered by her in the society. Varaimuthu affectionately pens down the lines. Dheena keeps it simple and does not stuff the track with raucous beats lending a pleasant feel overall. Suchitra does complete justice to the song.
‘Ennayum Unnaiyum’, the next track in the offering is a synthesis of Carnatic and hip-hop beats. Karthik plays out his part with utmost fidelity and provides right feel to the track. A mushy duet, Chinmayi also contributes well. The song bursts with an alapana trailed by a clutter of shifting tempo.
Next trails ‘Anbae Anbaethan’ which has Dheena lending his voice. This is a slow paced number but it gradually picks up speed as it carries along. Vairamuthu’s lyrics are touching and Dheena’s witty use of flute adds to the soft ambience of the track.
Then comes the track ‘Kutraalam Kutraalam’ which can be termed as an emblematic Dheena number. This track owns a rustic essence. It has a good dosage of everything required to woo, ranging from zany beats, melodious notes and haunting rhythm. A swift folk note that is sure to attract the frontbenchers. In this track Malathi eclipses Harish Raghavendra.
Next follows ‘Ennannu Puriyallayae’ another fast track in the album. This track drips with energy. Naproon Gosha croons out this song with an Anglicized accent. This track reminds one of Dheena’s previous compositions.
In totality the soundtrack for this album makes for a worthy listening. Dheena is good. Overall an entertaining album!
