Producer: Bujji Director: Sri Vaas Cast: Gopichand, Anushka, Jagapathi Babu, Kalyan, Yashpal Sharma Music: Mani Sharma
After playing a series of hard core action flicks, Gopichand comes with a film that has a blend of action, romance and family values. Lakshyam is just another mass masala film that Tollywood regularly churns out. Only difference is that new director Sri Vaasu packages the old wine stylishly into new bottle. Gopichand’s performance and dashing looks of Jagapathi Babu (in a guest role as a sincere cop) and good music makes this other wise regular drama bearable.
Gopichand plays the role of a student Chandu. He has a close-knit family consisting of his brother ACP Bose (Jagapathi Babu), an honest police officer and his wife, and parents. Through Bose, Chandu meets Indu (Anushka). Soon love blossoms between them. Bose’s encounter with ruthless land mafia leader Section Shankar (Yashpal Sharma) sets the drama to unfold. Shankar hires Bose’s trusted man to kill him. They succeed in killing Bose. The rest of the drama is all about Chandu taking the revenge on Shankar and other who killed Bose.
The screenplay is gripping though it loses pace post the interval. Yet, director Srivas gets full marks for his effort to sustain the interest in this typical revenge drama.
Gopichand who is known for intense performances comes again with knockout performance. He also excels in the department of romance and comedy this time. Anushka looks extremely gorgeous and sexy. Jagapathi Babu does a commendable job as a cop. Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma in a negative role steals the show.
Music is one aspect of the film that is highly appreciable. Manisharma gives mellifluous music and as well as foot tapping numbers. His background score too is good.
Cinematographer Sekhar V Joseph’s work is okay.
You can definitely watch the film for once. It might not be a good action entertainer but okay for one time viewing.
