'Pokkiri' is a remake of Telugu blockbuster with the same title staring Mahesh Babu and Ileana. Producer Ramesh Babu is bringing it to Tamil, and choreographer-cum-actor Prabhu Deva, who is known for his directorial work in Telugu films ‘Nuvvastanantae Nenodantana’ and ‘Pournami’, is directing for the first time in Tamil with this film. Vijay and Asin, the hit pair of ‘Sivakasi’ joining hands again in this film.

It is an action-packed flick with good amount of commercial elements to appease the frontbenchers. Vijay plays the role of a ruthless guy having links with the mafia. However, he has a mission to achieve. The rest of the film is about the mission and how he achieves it. Asin plays the role of an aerobic instructor and Prakash Raj plays the villain. The director said that enough changes have been made to suit the Tamil audience.

Music director Mani Sharma has come up with seven songs for the film and Nirav Shah handles the camera works.
