After delivering a letdown with his very last film, NTR is frantically in need of a major hit to get back into the leading throne. His latest project is ‘Rakhee’ which also features reigning heartthrob of Tollywood Ileana and hot and happening Charmme. This film, which is directed by the exceptionally ingenious Krishnavamsi, brims with sisterly feelings and can be expected to work in NTR’s favor. Devisri Prasad composes the soundtrack where he assures to please not only the masses but also to appease the classes.

The first track to feature is ‘Rangu Rabba Rabba’ that appears in complete accordance with the script. Crooned by Amal Raj and Priya, it bursts out with a western thump but later swings back to the conventional rhythm. The use of tabla after first canto offers more rhythm to this track and Devisri Prasad’s application of automobile horns and other noises also impart further situational zest. This track is loaded with thumps and bangs.

‘Zara Zara’ is a romantic track hummed by Andrea in a gruff voice. This is a honey-dipped track dominated with good proportion of electric guitar, bass guitar and Congo drums. This slow paced track is pepped up by Andrea’s husky rendition.

Then comes ‘Vasthavaa Vasthavaa’ fashioned in folk style. The lyric includes archetypal rustic colloquial terms and Jassie Gift and Srilekha Parthasarty does ample justice. It is also embedded in loud drumbeats to foray the rural texture. Overall a modest attempt.

After this comes ‘Rakhee Rakhee’ whined by Devisri Prasad together with Malayali muse Mamata Mohan Das.The tune of guitar and shehnai adds to the beauty. Drumbeats preceding the second canto are very catchy. The classical background score is also interesting to note.

‘Kallallo Kaalaagni’ instigates with a verse by Devisri Prasad resembling Kalika Stotram and is rendered by SP Balasubramaniam. This song has a loud bang that makes us understand the background. The interludes of melody add to the tunefulness. This solo number hardly fails to inspire.

The soundtrack concludes with ‘Ninnu Choosthe’ a duet rendered by Shankar Mahadevan and Gopika Purnima. The use of keyboards, guitar and drumbeats conjure up to make it a foot-tapping number. A modest song that winds up with a sweet hum.

A modest effort by Devisri Prasad, the soundtrack of this album is nothing exceptional. In totality a good effort.
