Movie Review : Rendu

Producer: Khushboo
Director: Sundar C
Cast: Madhavan, Reema Sen, Anushka, Manivannan, Bhagyaraj, Vadivelu, Hari Raj
Music: Imman D

Director Sundar C has cleverly used his winning formula again. This film too has right dose of romance, comedy and action to keep the viewers on their toes. Madhavan is here to prove once again that he is a competent action hero, and he has succeeded. He plays a dual role along with Reema Sen and newcomer Anushka.

In the film, Sakthi (Madhavan) comes to Chenai in search of job and stays with his uncle Karikalan (Vadivelu), who is a magician. He meets Valli (Reema Sen), who earns by doing tricks in the exhibition, and they fall in love.

However, a series of murder takes place in the state. The investigative officer (Bhagyaraj) finds out similarities in the murders and pins down on the killer. Sakthi is arrested and imprisoned in connection with these murders. Now, Kannan (Madhavan) enters the scene, claiming that he is the real culprit. He helps Sakthi to escape from the jail and tells his side of story to him.

Kannan is the son of a marriage contractor from Kumbakonam. He comes across Jothy (Anushka) at a wedding and they fall in love. However, a rich NRI wants to set up factories in the farming land of Kumbakonam with the help of the local bigwigs. Jothy’s father is hell-bent against this plan. This leads to setting the marriage hall on fire, killing everyone. Kannan escapes and decides to teach a lesson to anti-social elements. The rest of the film is on how Kannan along with Sakthi goes to finish off a big industrialist.

It’s Madhavan and only Madhavan. The entire load is thrashed upon his shoulders and he has carried it with ease. He has done the dual role quite convincingly. Reema Sen and Anushka too have done their roles well by pouring in glamour. However, Anushka outshines Reema at places. Vadivelu manages to bring the house down with his role as a magician. Imman’s music and M Prasadh’s cinematography are fine.

Sundar has managed to make a good commercial entertainer. Go, watch the film if you want to have fun.
