Five individuals, 48 hours, thrill and fear. They are brought together by fate to unveil their different worlds, fated to be together on the journey through the ruthless country Afghanistan distraught by war. The film is set post 9/11 in the turbulent situation in Afghanistan left to recover after the American bombing which had destroyed most part of the country. Taliban soldiers were trying to escape to Pakistan fearing threat of their life from the Afghans. In such situation Suhel Khan (John Abraham) and Jai Kapoor (Arshad Warsi) both TV journalists from India go there to collect news material and meet the Taliban. Helping them in the foreign terrain is their translator and driver Khyber (Hanif Hum Ghum) who has been the witness of all the destruction. They go for an adventurous time in their jeep called Kabul Express, going to secret hideouts in the mountains, getting blindfolded and almost getting trampled by horses shooting a game. It is then they meet American photojournalist, Jessica Beckham (Linda Arsenio) who saves their life. The Talibans are still obscure to them but without their knowledge they are being watched constantly.
A Taliban fugitive Imran Khan Afridi (Salman Shahid) who wants to escape to the Pakistani border kidnaps them at gunpoint one morning. Imran was a Pakistani army soldier who was part of the Taliban and he knows that Jai and Suhel are his trump card as they are journalists and their movements won’t be questioned. He poses as their local guide to escape the wrath of Afghans who might kill him if caught. The journey to Kabul via the volatile Afghan-Pakistan border gets spine chilling as Jai and Suhel face the worst nightmare of their life being taken as hostage and driving through the most dangerous terrain of the world. It’s Jessica who spots them and thinks that they are after a big story and begins chasing them. Before she can realize anything she is also taken as a captive by Imran. All five of them go through different threatening situations and in the process of the journey all of them bind together. Jai, Suhel and Jessica help Imran reach the border of Pakistan. But their stay in Kabul has more thorns then they can imagine!
