B R Films moved you with 'Baghban' and they are here again with another touching tale 'Baabul'. It is a family film delivering a social message of widow rehabilitation. The team of Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini and Salman Khan joins the new cast Rani Mukherjee and John Abraham for the film directed by Ravi Chopra. Also joining the team is Aadesh Shrivastava with lyricist Sameer who had tuned some beautiful numbers for 'Baghban'.
Amitabh Bachchan who had sung in his own voice in 'Baghban' for Aadesh returns back behind the mike for 'Come On Come On'. It is a catchy, rhythmic and beautifully composed score with Sonu Nigam joining Amitabh Bachchan in the lively rendition. The essence of the track is Bhangra merged with of funk, English words, pop and rap-n-reggae. The song sets the celebration mood for the album. A chartbuster!
There is also the remix version of the same track added with more pace and funk. Surely after the enjoyable original song, you are left asking for more from this number and the remix track just serves the purpose. 'Come On Come On' just rocks!
The next song from the album makes route for melody. 'Keh Raha Hai' is a romantic soft and simple duet sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. High on melody and good arrangement this song will also appeal the listener.
Reviving back the melody of the 70s is the next track 'Har Manzar' and the soft music just makes a place in your heart. Kunal Ganjawala puts a controlled rendition making it a decent number of the album.
'Har Manzar' gets a touch of beats and rhythm in the remix composed by DJ Suketu. Unlike the other remake songs going ballistic, this retains the smoothness and softness in music. There is only an addition of one or two instruments in the song.
The album proceeds in the same soft manner with the next song 'Kehta Hai Baabul' falling in the same genre as the former song. Jagjit Singh renders the song expressing a father's love for his daughter giving an insight of his feelings once she gets married. A beautiful track that is sure to move all by tears.
In the same tone follows 'Bebasi Dard Ka Aalam Hai' setting the sober mood of the album. It is a soft meaningful situational track rendered exceptionally well by Kunal Ganjawala, who makes an impact with the track.
On the route of lounge music based on Indian classical music with a delicate touch of Western instruments is the next track 'Baawri Piya Ki' rendered by Sonu Nigam. It is a subtle love song rendered softly by Sonu Nigam who is just class apart. Aadesh Srivastava hails with the album providing varied and classy scores so far.
The mood of the album just takes a complete u-turn with a qawalli song 'Gaa Re Mann' sung by Sudesh Bhonsle and will surely feature Amitabh Bachchan. Though it’s a fun track Sudesh keeps his voice subdued keeping in mind the age factor of the superstar. Alka Yagnik joins him in the rendition and here a duet follows. Kavita Krishnamurthy joins them later in this track that impresses a lot.
Sadness fills the album again with the 'Baabul-Bidaai' song rendered by Richa Sharma. Richa’s voice reflects the poignancy of heart during the bidaai in the song that is sans any musical instrument.
A short sad situational love song 'Vaada Raha' rendered by Sonu Nigam is the last track of the album. It is a situational track that might serve its purpose in the film.
Aadesh Srivastava needs a pat on the back for the classy soundtrack of the film retaining the Indianess in music as the film demands but as well bringing in variety and quality in every track. All the songs are impressive though it’s 'Come On' that steals the show.
