Movie Review : Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw

Producer: Srinivas V
Director: Nidhi Prasad
Cast: Richard, Rajendra Prasad, Rishi, Farzana, Kiran Rathod
Music: Chakri

‘Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw’ is a remake of Bollywood film ‘Malamaal Weekly’ by Priyadarshan. Nidhi Prasad, the director of the Telugu version has convinced popular writer LB Sriram to write the dialogues of this film. The writer has succeeded in giving Telugu nativity to the story. It is undoubtedly a good entertainer. The director’s attempt to convey the message not to try to get unwanted gains has failed, as the audience is emerged with the comedy elements of the film. There is entertainment all through.

Bullabbai (Rajendra Prasad) earns his living by selling lottery tickets in a village. People like tea stall owner Mallika (Bhuvaneswari), Yesudas (Ali), Pala Pullayya (Tanikella Bharani) and Varadarajulu (MS Narayana) are his regular customers. Bullabbayi finds out that a lucky guy, who had bought ticket from him, has won the prize money of Rs.1 crore. He throws a big party to all his customers by mortgaging his house in order to find out the winner of the lottery. Only Yesudas doesn’t turn up and he comes to know that the ticket is with him.

Meanwhile, Srinu (Rishi) works for Pullayya, as his father Varadaraju (MS Narayana) owed him money. Srinu and Pullayya's daughter Bhagyalakshmi (Farjana) have fallen in love. But the richest woman and banker in the village Ranikasula Renuka Rani (Kiran Rathod) wants Bhagyalakshmi to marry her brother Minor Babu (Venumadhav). Pullayya accepts the proposal, as he owes her some money.

Searching for the winning ticket, Bullabbai goes to Yesudas' house but he finds him dead. He tries to take the ticket but fails. Pullayya sees him at this juncture and starts claiming that he has killed him. Owing to the situation, Bukllabbai decides to share the prize money with Pullayya. Srinu shows them while they are trying to hide the dead body. This makes them to promise him a share too. However, Yesudas has called up an officer from the lottery office (Nagababu), his brother Jashua (Brahmanandam), his wife Parvathi (Abhinyasri) and the entire village that he has won the lottery. This compels Bullabbai, Pullayya and Srinu to share the money equally among the villagers. Ranikasula Renuka Rani has decided to reveal the true story to the officer when he comes but she dies before the event. The villagers make Jashua disguise as Yesudas when the officer comes and gets the prize money. Thus the film ends happy with the union of Srinu and Bhagyalakshmi.

There is no way for this film to fail because almost all the comedians in Tollywood are in it. They have done what they are supposed to do by bringing the house down. The heroine of the film also has added glamour though her role is homely. The lovemaking scenes are really hot. In short, you will not believe how time flies by the time the film gets over. This is a must watch film for everyone. Go, have fun!
