This new ‘Maya Bazaar’ has nothing to do with the old classic film bearing the same title. KM Radhakrishnan, who is known for melody has composed some sweet tunes for the film. Raja and Bollywood actress Bhumika are playing the lead roles in this film produced by B Satyanarayana and Raj Kishore Khaware on RKK Films banner and directed by award-winning director Mohana Krishna.
“Nadume Chitikantha” is a folk number with loads of melody pumped into it. Shankar Mahadevan’s voice suits the song to the ‘T’ and Chitra’s sweet voice is a beauty to the ear.
“Siri Siri Muvvala” is yet another melody with a touch of folk tune. It sounds as if someone is trying to cheer up a girl who is not in good mood. Tunes are old yet listeners will enjoy the melody in it and the lyrics, which has good literary value. Balasubrahmanyam has rendered it so beautifully.
Radhakrishanan never seems to run short of melody because “Saroja Dala” is also a melody duet song rendered really well by SP Balasubrahmanyam and Chitra. The sweetness of their voice rings in the ear long after it is heard. The lyrics suggest that it has something to do with marriage and the mood of a couple. The music director has once again brought out his skills in traditional instruments like violin, tabla and flute and modern instrument like keyboard.
Radhakrishanan seems to love old rhythms, as almost all his songs have a trace of it. He has used traditional rhythm in the number “Kanivini Erugani” too. It is about a girl dreaming of something that will make her happy. There is melody in this number too and Gayatri’s voice is so sweet. It’s worth listening over and over again.
“Prema Nerama” is a duet number with high literary values. It is a classical song and the music director has used traditional music. The lyrics suggest that the hero and heroine are at different places but thinking of each other. Hariharan and Shreya Ghoshal have sung it beautifully. Hariharan is basically a Hindi singer but he has proved with this song that language has no bar when it comes to melody.
“Hai Lovely” is a lively song well rendered by KM Radhakrishnan and Vasundhara Das. The music director has provided a different feel to this song by giving modern tune to it. The use of instruments like guitar, saxophone and drums, and a little humming of English verses would make the listeners tap their feet. This number too has enough melody though the tune is formal.
In short, this is a good album by KM Radhakrishnan. Music lovers should not miss it.
