‘Hungama’ is a comic offering from the well-known movie director Priyadarshan. It features Akhay Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Aftab Shivdassani and Rimi Sen in the lead. Nadeem- Shravan score music. Sameer is the lyricist.

As they have already exhausted their creative ideas Nadeem -Shravan borrow from other music director’s reserves. The first song ‘Pari Pari’ is an example of this. It is an exact copy of the Jatin Lalit composition ‘Pehli Pehli Baar Baliye’. The lyrics too serve no purpose. This is the end result when two creatively exhausted talents come up together.

The lyricist-music director team should thank singers for making this a bearable one. This romantic track ‘Tere Dil Me’ is a big zero when it comes to music and lyrics. Passionate rendition of the experienced pair Alka and Udit breathe life in to this song. Not a classy composition in any case.

Same goes for the next track ‘Ishq’. This time another established pair comes to the rescue of the Nadeem- Shravan-Sameer team. Kumar Shanu and Richa Sharma sing this song that talks about unrequited love. The singer pair beautifully emote the feel of the song. Nadeem –Shravan manage to come up with a good melody.

‘Hum Nahin Dushman Tere’ is a typical Nadeem –Shravan compsotion. It reminds you of the song  ‘Tu Pyaar Hai Kisi Aur Ka’ from the Amir- Pooja Bhatt starrer ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin’. This one set in the same atmosphere lacks the emotional quotient of the former. Sameer’s lyrics are better this time. But it is the hearty rendition of Abhijeet, Alka and Sonu that give this song an extra edge.

Shan, Sadhana Sargam track ‘Chain’ is an okay one. Lyrics as always is mediocre. But the music is much improved. This is a sweet and soft melodious track. But like rest of the tracks this one also lacks freshness.

Then comes the title track. It is a horrible piece of music. It is the worst title track ever composed by any of the known music composers. Once again Sameer fails.

On the whole ‘Hungama’ is an ordinary album with some mediocre songs. It is not going to sell. Not even the Priyadarshan’s picturisation can make this album sell.
