It is quite natural for expectations to shoot up when Saran and Bharadwaj join hands because they have worked together in eleven films including many modern-day classics. They have not disappointed this time too. Bharadwaj has come out with an album mixed with melodies and hip-hop numbers for ‘Vattaram’. Vairamuthu’s lyrics are good and the music director has introduced seven new singers. The film has Arya, Napoleon, Keerat and Athisaya in the lead roles and Saran produces as well directs it.

The number “Mudhal Mudhala” gives right momentum to the whole album. It is a romantic song with racy beats and hot lyrics by Vairamuthu. Newcomer Rajesh Krishna and Janani have sung it well with lots of freshness. The music director continues the rhythm all through.

“Ovvoru Pillaiyum” is a song about philosophy of life and Mukesh has sung it well with rare mix of sadness and style. It sounds a bit similar to a song from Bharadwaj's earlier film. However, it is Vairamuthu's lyrics that do the talking. Bharadwaj too have not spoiled his game by composing good music.

“Idhu Kadhal” is a soft and melodious number with ample harmony and heavy percussion instruments. Its soothing chorus accompanied by brisk music catches the attention of the listeners at once. Bharadwaj’s experimentation has worked. Rajesh Krishna is sure to make it big in singing profession. This number is undoubtedly the pick of the album.

Bharadwaj has shown his passion for carnatic again with this number “Unnai Partha”. It is likely to make it to the top of the charts like his earlier numbers based on Carnatic background. Shalini has sung it pretty well. The director deserves praises for clever fusion of Carnatic and contemporary music in this number.

“Star Hotel” is a racy song with heavy beats, packaged in such a way that masses would find difficult to ignore. Kavitha, Mrinalini and Sathyan have rendered it with lots of energy and enthusiasm. The lyric of the song is one of the strengths of this beautiful number.

“Yaar Tharuvaar” is a peppy and fast number with catchy lyrics written by Vairamuthu. Music director Bharadwaj himself sung this number and he has succeeded in breathing life into it.

“Naana Idhu Naana” is another melodious number. Kalyani’s sweet voice has made all the difference to the number. The instrumentation is heavy yet her voice suits it.

This album is another good work from Bharadwaj. You should not miss it!
