One thing that director Ahathiyan has made sure about is that nobody would ever dare try to make a film like his. Afterall nobody would like to make as bad a film that he has made of Hum Ho Gaye Aapke. The film is loaded with the usual clichés in every department and the winner is the dialogue. Every department mean every department, right from script to dialogue, music to cinematography to direction.
So you have a Casanova hero Rishi (Fardeen Khan) who sings ‘love me love me just for a day’ to prove his character. Now Casanovas are always born in the rich house, so he is the son of a tycoon (Suresh Oberoi).
For comparison sake, Rishi has a poor, clumsy, cowardly Mohan (Apurva Agnihotri) for a friend. Mohan is also supposed to be working under him, besides being a shameless miser, he doesn’t think twice before bursting into tears at the drop of a hat. The duo spots Chandni (Reema Sen) at a intercollegiate beauty contest, and they are blown by her beauty.
Rishi offers her an indecent proposal. Sober Mohan, who has been avoiding women like the plague due to his shaky financial condition, miraculously musters up the courage to propose to Chandni. After a lengthy song routine in New Zealand, Chandni chooses Mohan. Then come misunderstandings. So Chandni gives in to her hysterical and nagging mother’s demands and decides to tie the knot with Dr Shekhar (Mahesh Thakur), only to escape on the D-day.

Follows a series of additional misunderstandings, which also exposes Mohan's inability to honour his commitment. Fed up, Chandni seeks refuge in Rishi’s mansion. Now like Salman Khan of Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai and Aamir Khan of Mann, Casanova Rishi has a change of heart and he mends his ways. He now become the epitome of everything good, the ideal marrying kind that girls can write home about.
Performance wise, the film has been saved by Fardeen Khan who go on to prove that he has matured as an actor over this last one year. The film has been singlehandedly shouldered by him. Apurva hams his way through the film while debutant Reema better go back and join college when she still can as acting sure is not her cup, however if she decides to stay on she needs to join up a training institute immediately or she may be reduced to just decorative pieces or item numbers. Nadeem Shravan’s score is dangerous as it urges the audience to leave their seat and go out for a smoke.
