Directed by Varun Khanna ‘American Blend' is a crossover film with Anupam Kher in the lead and in the film also he is heading an American family. Composer Abu Malik brother of Anu Malik, makes his debut with the music of the film.

The first track of the album is just infectious. 'Nach Nach Saade Naal' is high in rhythm and is a fusion of a Bhangra and pop sung by Sonu Nigam and Indee. Madan Pal and Indee pen the lyrics of the track. It’s an enjoyable and energetic track that leaves you asking for more.

Keeping with the tempo is the next track 'Dil Mangdi' by Bali Brahmbhatt and Suzanne. Another upbeat track by Abu Malik with well paced music arrangement enlivening the energy. Bali is in fine form but it’s the terrific tempo that remains the high points of the number.

Next in a row is another high charged track 'Dhol Baje', with Indee coming up with his rap performance followed soon by the king of Bhangra Daler Mehndi. Kumar and Abu Malik write the song, which turns to be entertaining, and fun filled bhangra-pop-rap fusion.

'Kathak Rap' is the next fusion track to follow. This is a very different kind of track and the unique factor catches your attention. It is a situational number rendered in a great way by Blaze, Bhairavi Shankar and Amrapali Ambegaokar. It’s a number that would be lapped by the follower of Indian classical music and would give fun time for fusion followers too.

'Jeena Te Pyaar' is the second best song of the album after 'Nach Nach'. Sukhwinder Singh’s rendition makes this love song very pleasing and the rhythm just keeps you going. The lyrics input is by Madan Pal.

Abu Malik comes behind the mike for 'Asi Pyaar De Pujari', another track coming out of the pens of Madan Pal. This is a simple Punjabi track about celebrating unconditional love.

Suzanne is preferred to render 'Spicin' Up Your Life' written by Indee. This is a song that merges hip-hop, rap and pop and is predominantly English. The probable chances are that the song will be placed as a background score.

Written by Kumaar 'Aaja Aaja' has  good rhythm with the base of celebration music though the situation seems very retro indeed due to the commercial ingredient of the 90s. For this Hinglish track, Abhijeet and Suzanne pair up.
An 8-piece marriage track is titled 'Wedding Medley' encompassing traditional Punjabi songs that rocks the marriages in North India. Richa Sharma does the rendition and she is the apt choice for the number, infusing the zeal of celebration.

Next is an 'Engagement Medley’, which is funny in the sense that it is a parody with songs such as 'Kaliyon Ka Chaman', 'Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar', 'Chadti Jawani', 'Kaanta Laga' and 'Dola Re Dola'. Once again the track is ideal to spark up the marriage celebration. Bhairavi, Ujwala and Indee get together for this fun-filled time.

Abu Malik brings an amalgamation of many golden songs from the past as his note to pay tribute to the legends, recreating the tracks, though the achievement is hardly that great. 'Saranga Teri Yaad Mein' composed by his father Sardar Malik, Shankar Jaikishan compositions 'Dil Ka Haal Sune Dil Waala' and 'Sun Mere Bandhu Re' is composed by S.D. Burman redone by Shrikant Kulkarni.

'American Blend' is loaded with many tracks but none of them surpass the good quality mark. The songs are average and won’t find a place in the charts. The music is fine for the narrative but surely don’t promise you a great time in front of the stereo.
