National award winner Goutam Ghose brings a different kind of film in essence and feel with a concept that defies the stereotype. 'Yatra' is much more than a commercial potboiler that brings for the audience an experimental concept that they’re surely going to relish.

Dashrath Joglekar (Nana Patekar) lives in Adilabad district in Andhra Pradesh and is a writer by profession. His loving family comprises wife (Deepti Naval) and two children (Romit Raj and Anandi). His son however doesn’t appreciate his father’s work and is rather interested in contemporary music. However as the story progresses he undergoes changes in notion due to few incidents which ultimately leads him to appreciate his father’s work.

Dahsrath begins his by train to Delhi to receive the prestigious 'Elegant Sahitya Samman' award for his novel 'Janaza'. He comes across a filmmaker (Nakul Vaid) on the way who appreciates his work and is interested to transform the vision of the novel into an interesting film since the novel's main protagonist is a beautiful courtesan Lajvanti. After the journey, Dashrath keeps on toying with the idea about reconstructing the possibly true story about Lajvanti. After receiving his award he begins his search for the real muse of his story. Here begins his journey (Yatra).

The characters of his novel come alive in his imagination and soon his life gets mingled with theirs. His wife starts searching for him as he has not returned home in a long time and she finds herself standing at the doors of a dancer. The dancer is Lajvanti (Rekha) a courtesan and Dahsrath's main protagonist of his novel. Dahsrath has become obsessed with this a singer-dancer from Benaras-Lucknow owing to her enigma and charm. Thus the visualization of the filmmaker and imagination of the writer come together through the creative processes. It’s the dichotomy between fact and it's a combination. The film is slated to release in November.
