Audio Review : Absolutely winning music

Producer: Sajid Nadiadwala, Prashant Shah
Director: Shirish Kunder
Cast: Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, Anupam Kher, Soni Razdan
Music: Anu Malik

'Jaan-E-Mann' has been in the limelight ever since its inception with the formidable star cast of Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta and producer Sajid Nadiadwala, debutante director Shirish Kunder, veteran Gulzar and composer Anu Malik at the helm of affairs. The album is a comeback of sorts for Anu Malik who seems to have got over the dull phase of his career. With the music he hits back at the cynics who’ve written him off. The best part about the music he has created is that it suits to T the genre of the film.

'Humko Maloom Hai' begins with Salman Khan chipping in a few dialogues. His soft voice gives way to a melodious and soft score that registers an impact on you instantly. Sonu Nigam and Anu Malik make this difficult number sound easy to the ears as Gulzar hooks you on with the conversational lyrics. Sadhna Sargam leaves her mark with the rendition. The best thing about the music here is an ensemble of instrument, the arrangement and originality. This is a number that’ll cling onto you for long.

Tune yourself to some fun time with 'Jaane Ke Jaane Na'. Sonu Nigam and Sukhwinder Singh go for a bingo in this qawalli styled number with Anu Malik once again calling for kudos. Krishna adds in his own way. It’s an absolutely enjoyable number. Gulzar is once again brilliant. There is a true DJ mix 'club remix' which makes this freaky track peppier.

Sonu Nigam goes for his third superb outing with 'Ajnabi Shehar'. Another different song coming out of the kitty of Anu Malik. A well-composed track reminding us of the 60s, the musical arrangement here is once again noteworthy. The soulful melody touches the chord of the heart that hardly exists today. Gulzar, Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam infuse this sad song with so much appeal that it just leaves you breathless.

Another wonderful track arriving after this is 'Sau Dard'. It’s a sad song with lots of energy and feelings, a genre that Anu Malik has invented in this album. He has introduced the kind of music here that he has never used before. Sonu Nigam outdoes his former performance delivering on a hallmark note. Suzanne's voice in the chorus is appealing. By now the magic of Anu Malik, Gulzar and Sonu Nigam has just won you over. The 'Groove Mix' of 'Sau Dard' stands out for being on a different level altogether.

Kunal Ganjawala, Sunidhi Chauhan and Adnan Sami come together for a stage number 'Udh Jaana Bro'. A rhythmic energetic song with concert feel just perfect for the situation it demands. But in comparison to the novelness and musical charm to the former numbers this track falls short. A 'Club Mix' of the song appears but without creating much impact.

Anu Malik brings along the Indian Idol gang Rahul Vaidya, Amit Sana and Prajakta Shukre to sing for 'Kubool Kar Le'. It’s a peppy track with Udit Narayan taking the lead and Monali Thakur and Suzanne doing their bit as well. A situational track that you’ll have fun hearing to.

The first four tracks of the album are absolutely rocking and that raises your expectations from the album. 'Udh Jaana' and 'Kubool Kar Le' fall short of expectation but they are fine numbers. This is an album not worth a miss and is a must buy for your shelves. The soundtrack surely makes things upbeat for the film and for Anu Malik!
