The successful erstwhile classic ‘Don’ of the 70’s with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan in the lead is one of the great films of Indian cinema. In contemporary setting the attempt has been made to revive the classic once again, and to assure due justice superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been chosen for the title role keeping in mind the magnamity of it. Comparisons between the old and new will be made at every aspect of the film and music is one amongst them. Expectations are gargantuan from the scores of  ‘Don - The Chase Begins Again’ the rechristened name of the old classic.

Before strating one wonders about what kind of music will the film produce. Will it be similar to the 70s or contemporary like all other Shah Rukh Khan films or may be a fusion of both? With Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Javed Akhtar at the helm, let’s find out what’s in store for us and how much excitement it produces.

The first track of the album begins with the title song ‘Main Hoon Don’. Don’t jump at any conclusions that it’s the former number of the 70s. Rather it has new lyrics, new music and has been rendered efficiently by Shaan. In short this song is absolutely different from the former one. The music appears that of the genre of Hollywood flick and with the lyrics of Javed Akhtar, it soars to new heights. With a number of twists, it appears very different from any other typical Bollywood number.

Fast paced, energetic and frothy remix version of the same number bowls you over. With the fresh use of western arrangements, it is one remix number that you’ll relish as much as you liked the original.

'Yeh Mera Dil Pyaar Ka Deewana' starts in the vintage manner but soon changes its route to a club number. Sunidhi Chauhan gets behind the mike to add to the groove rendering to the fresh beats of SEL. A merge of old and new, Sunidhi manages to retain the essence of the track.

‘Maurya Re’ a Ganpati song sung by Shankar Mahadevan begins next. It swings you to bright and celebration mood and will appeal universally. Infused with Indian melody, dhol and energy it is one track that will charge you up. But with such good numbers aren’t you charged up yet?

Here ends your wait to hear the new styled 'Khaike Paan Banaraswala'. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is excellent with the number that captivates you from the word go! SEL, Javed Akhtar and Udit Narayan have gone over the edge to lend something extra to this number. Everything is just perfect – the pace, rhythm, rendition, rap by Shah Rukh Khan (that’s a surprise), music arrangement. It goes along to be the chart busting score once again.

As you rock with the zingy track, ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ arrives as another exciting and gripping score and is another good track of the album. Set right to the theme, it’s an amazing lounge track you just can’t help getting away with.  Alisha Chinoy and Mahalaxmi Iyer are the right voices for the track and the enthusiast Sonu Nigam lends magic to the superb score. It is one of the innovative and the best score coming out of SEL.

The instrumental 'Theme Music' is a blend of western arrangement and lounge and readily charges you up as soon as it begins. It is the signature tune of the film that you’re going to hear quite often from now.

'Don Revisited' truly stands up to the tile as music and dialogues from the original appear with a new style and feel lend by Medival Punditz. Another pacy and enjoyable score with 'Arrey Deewano Mujhe Pehchano' forming the base of it. Some dialogues mouthed by SRK add to the thrill.

Shankar Ehsaan Loy go for a double whammy with the soundtrack of 'Don – The Chase Begins Again' just after ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kahna’. They have come up with fresh and excellent scores retaining the essence of the music from the past. Most of the songs have the potential to top as chartbusters. A right balance of club mix with a dash of Indian melody, it is surely one album that’s must for your collection!
