‘Game’ is a remake of Bollywood film ‘Taxi No 9211’. It was Nana Patekar and John Abraham who brought the house down in the Hindi version. The humanism and love involved between the lead actors was one of the strengths of ‘Taxi No 9211’ but its Telugu remake lacks these elements. Of course, Mohan Babu and Vishnu are different actors and the makers of the film have made changes to suit the taste of the local audience. The good element of the film is that it is not a gangster film.
Pandit Raghava (Mohan Babu) is a hot-tempered taxi driver and roams in the streets of Hyderabad all the time. On the other hand, Vijay Raj (Vishnu) is a fun-loving rich youth. He leads a funky modern lifestyle and has a bevy of women around. One needs money to pay debts while the other is to inherit several crores of rupees from his dad. Now, fate brings these contrasting personalities together. They have nothing in common but go the same journey. Vijay takes a ride in Pandit’s cab. His life takes a ‘U’ turn. You will have to watch the film to know the reason behind and the consequences.
Mohan Babu is good as cab driver and his dialogue delivery is an asset. It’s a big challenge for Vishnu to perform along with Mohan Babu but he has managed to pull it through. He has improved a lot, however, his onscreen chemistry with Mohan is not impressive. Shobana has done superb job as Mohan Babu’s harassed wife but Paravti Melton has nothing much to do though she plays Vishnu’s heroine. Joshua Sridhar’s musical work is fine.
On the flip side, Ramparasd has failed to make the streets of Hyderabad as lively as Mumbai that was portrayed in the original version. However, ‘Game’ is a good entertainer on the whole.
