Joshua Sreedar received lots of accolades for his melodious compositions in ‘Kadhal’. He is back with a bang with ‘Aran’. He has composed some catchy soft and peppy numbers for this bi-lingual film, which is simultaneously made in Malayalam as ‘Keerthi Chakra’. There are five melodious numbers including a soothing Kashmiri song sung by Manicka Vinayakam in the album. The film has Mohanlal, Gopika and Jeeva in the lead roles. R B Choudhary produces it on Super Good Films banner and Major Ravi directs it.
The album starts with a captivating romantic melody titled “Mugilae”. It is about a young army personal in the borders singing in memory of his love. Sreenivas has proved his worth once again by singing it beautifully. The music director has managed to give a western touch to the number in spite using only soft instruments.
“Pooncholai” is once again a soft melody sung by Karthik and Asha Menon. It starts on a slow note but gets into momentum later. The use of flute and slow beat has made the number so tempting. Melody lovers will surely love this song.
“Thottal Poo” is a racy number with foot tapping beats. It is likely to be an item number and Anushka has sung with lots of spirit and energy. However, the instrumentation has outsmarted lyrics at times. It would have been much better had the music director slowed down the pace of orchestration.
“Kashmiri song” is all about a Kashmiri youth singing for peace in his land. It is soft and melodious though it is inspired by Kashmiri folk numbers. Manicka Vinayakam’s strong voice suits the song to the ‘T’. He has put his everything into the number. “Bit song” is a small and short number sung by Srinivas. It is all about triumph against evil.
Music director Joshua Sreedar deserves a warm pat from the back for his great work in the film. Melody lovers should head for music store for this album.
