Yuvanshankar Raja is one of the hottest and most happening music directors around in Kollywood with impeccable track record. He has worked with several prominent producers and has established his own style. He has teamed up with Silambarasan again after ‘Manmadhan’. The foot-tapping music of ‘Vallavan’ is sure to go down well with the masses. It also has right mix of hip-hop and western tunes. Singers like Silambarasan, T Rajendher, Sunidhi Chauhan, Karthik and pop star Blaaze have poured their sweet voice for the album. The film has Silambarasan, Sandhya, Reema Sen and Nayantra in the lead roles.
The album starts with a youthful number “Podu Aatampodu”. It starts with a racy and catchy music. The high-voltage tunes, peppy beats and lyrics complimented each other well. Vijay Yesudass, who is known for singing soft melodies, has sung this racy song well.
“Hip Hip” is also a racy number but with less instrumentation. Its tune is sure to catch the listeners by the ear. It has lyrics that take you back to school. Sunitha Sarathy has sung it with so much ease and Karthik has provided her good support.
“Loose Pennae” is a lively romantic number and Blaaze’s tempting voice suits it very well. Blaaze has gone a bit slow in this song unlike his usual fast numbers. Silambarasan also has given able support. Yuvan deserves praises for making Blaaze try out something new.
Yuvan has once again proved his flair for remixes through “Kadhal Vandhiduchu”. It is a remix of a popular song from ‘Kalyanaraman’, which was composed by his father Ilayaraja. Silambarasan has sung this number with lots of energy. The beat of the song would find its way into the dancing floor.
“Yammadi” is a rollicking racy number and certainly the pick of the album. T Rajendhar has sung after a long gap and Silambarasan has pumped in lots of energy into it. Mahathi and Suchitra have added spice to the number with their sweet voice. Masses will love this number.
“Vallava” must be the theme song of the film. Sunidhi Chauhan sings with high pitch voice yet she has sung with ease. It is a song sung by a woman who is obsessed with a youth. It also has youthful lyrics and good instrumentation. However, the music director seems to have used the tunes from his earlier films for this song.
The album will surely go down well with the music lovers. There are many songs with peppy and racy tunes to attract the masses. Yuvanshanjar Raja has once again shown that he is here to stay.
