People must be expecting something soothing from M.M.Keeravani after wonderful outing in ‘Sri Ramadasu’ but the end result is disappointing. The fact is this album lacks freshness and appeal. The film features Ravi teja and Anushka in the lead roles. M.L.Kumar Chowdary produces it with Rajamouli as the director. “College Papala” is a fast song with heavy beats that is all about men going after girls. There is nothing new in the number. It would have been a mediocre song if not for Chitra’s beautiful rendition and use of Violin and veena in the interludes.
The number “Dammare Damma” has old tunes with poor music. It is a forgettable number sung by Chitra, Tippu and Vijji. Keeravani has tried to save the number by using violins in the interludes and some folk phrases but failed in the process.
“Dooranga” is a fast number with good beats and soothing interludes. Ganga has rendered it beautifully and Keeravani’s voice too suits the song. However, poor lyrics and charanam have let the whole song down.
“Jolaalee” is the saving grace of the album. Music lovers will enjoy this short melodious song well sung by Malavika. The good feel in the number would enthrall the listeners.
Film album would be incomplete without a romantic song, and so, the number “Jum Jum Maya” fills the slot. Sunitha has sung it so well but Keeravani is not impressive. He should have chosen another singer to render this number. Its lyrics by Keeravani are also mediocre.
“Vastavaa” is a folk based number with fast beats. Anuradha Sriram has sung it with great ease, as her style of singing suits such song. The chorus has the phrases of the famous song "Bombay se aaya mera dost..".
Keeravani has failed to deliver the goods this time around. ‘Vikramaarkudu’ has to rely on its script to make a good show at the box-office, as its music has gone down the drains.
