Movie Review : Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya

Producer: Suneel Darshan
Director: Dharamesh Darshan
Cast: Abhishek Bachan, Karishma Kapoor, Akshay Kumar
Music: Nadeem Shravan

Shree Krishna International's ‘Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya’ is written and directed by Dharmesh Darshan. After ‘Lootere’, ‘Raja Hindustani’, ‘Dhadkan’ expectations from his directorial film is high. However he doesn’t pull the strings of the hearts of the viewers like his other films.

The premise of the film moves on the lead characters Pooja Kashyap (Karisma Kapoor), Shiv Kapoor (Abhishek Bachchan) and Raj Malhotra (Akshay Kumar). Pooja wants to be No.1 in everything she does. But she is also a romantic and an idealist who is ready to sacrifice her career for the sake of true love. She doesn’t realize that there is a thin line between love and obsession that makes a whole lot of difference.

Shiv is ambitious but his laid back nature makes him take life as it comes. He never realizes that one moment of insensitiveness can make and mar his life.

Raj owns the world and is an accomplished man with money, fame and respect. He now seeks love and stability to make his life complete. He is sure to get it one day.

In the crossroads of life this three wonderful beings come together and their life takes a turn with emotional turmoil and upheaval. Love means differently to each of them, but yet it connects their heart.

Dharmesh Darshan lets down with the handling and execution of the film. The story is very predictable and the treatment outdated. The film begins in an uninteresting manner and relies on the formulaic path. Abhishek- Karisma love story doesn’t have the strength to ignite romance in the heart of the viewers. The screenplay writers take a pick of the sequences from the old fashioned films, but nothing helps. Also the second part of the film with the romance of Akshay- Karisma has nothing novel to offer. The climax is also unfulfilling. The drama is somewhat digestible but the emotion and comedy are absolute no-no.

Nadeem-Shravan's music is a saving grace and there are some melodious tunes to hold on to. W.B. Rao's cinematography is okay. Dialogues are fine.

Karisma Kapoor comes with a sincere performance but doesn’t succeed in making difference to this horrible film. She is brilliant in some places and loud at others. Akshay Kumar is apt, and Abhishek Bachchan has long way to go for a perfect delivery. Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor and Himani Shivpuri’s comedy is irritating.

The film has dearth of novelness and barring some scenes there is nothing that may excite you. Without a quality script the efforts of all related to the film go in vain. The film will find it tough to sustain business and reap good result for itself.
