Movie Review : Astram

Producer: Raju Harwani
Director: Suresh Krishna
Cast: Vishnu, Anushka, Jackie Shroff
Music: S.A.Rajkumar

Comparison is bound to happen to all remake films and ‘Astram’ is no exception. It is a remake of Bollywood film titled ‘Sarfarosh’, which has superstar Aamir Khan in the lead role. Director Suresh Krishna has tried to live up to the expectations but has failed. His selection of Vishnu for the lead role is good yet his script has let him down.

Siddharth (Vishnu) becomes an IPS officer with an aim of vanquishing the terrorists after they kill his father. Anusha (Anushka) is his ladylove and KV (Jackie Shroff) is a singer whom he admires like no one else. He arrests a goon, who works under big terrorist during his attempt to do away with the terrorists. Now, he comes to know the goon’s connections with KV. The rest of the film has lots of twists and turns.

Vishnu’s performance as an IPS officer is wonderful. Perhaps it is his best performance so far. Anushka has pumped in lots of glamour into the film while Jackie Shroff's role is short yet sweet. The film has nothing to boast of as far as technology is concerned. S.A.Rajkumar’s music is not impressive.

In short, Suresh Krishna has done a respectable job as a director. The film is worth watching.
