Movie Review : Jaana - Let's Fall In Love

Producer: Tess Mirza
Director: Shahrukh Mirza
Cast: Rajesh Khanna, Zeenat Aman, Rajeev Varma, Razzak Khan, Rehan Khan, Anjana Sukhani
Music: Abbas Jelani, Anand Milind, Pramod Tripathi, Rajendra Shiv, Guru Sharma

‘Jaana - Let's Fall In Love’ launches writer-director Shahrukh Mirza’s son Rehan as an actor. It’s a love story but without any original ingredient and devoid of freshness. The film rather looks like a mix of elements picked from several other films. The premise appears outdated, not the apt kind for the contemporary moviegoers. This is one predictable love story and this is its biggest set back.

Rehan, his sister and his mother (Zeenat Aman) live at a hill station. Rehan dreams of becoming something big in life and his trump card comes as Anjana. She is the only daughter of a wealthy businessman and is there at the hill station with her father (Rajiv Varma). She wears a fun loving mask though inside she is a sad girl as she is suffering from a dreaded disease. Rehan meets her and takes her for sight seeing. He impresses her and pretends that he has fallen in love with her. Soon he realizes that he has actually fallen in love with her. But fate takes a turn as Anjana recovers but Rehan falls ill.

Rehan though a newcomer lives up to his expectation and is worthy of a watch in this otherwise mediocre film. The storyline is very weak and it is sure that you won’t appreciate the film for its screenplay. There are lots of loopholes in the screenplay that you just can’t overlook. Shahrukh-Farhan's direction doesn’t deserve credit for being outdated. Also the climax is predictable. Neither the romantic episodes of the youngsters nor that of Khanna-Zeenat and Aman-Rajiv Varma interests. This part neither entertains. The music is melodious and it provides some lovely time.

Rehan demonstrates skills of a fine actor. He appears confident, is camera friendly and also dances well. With some grooming he should appear fine. Anjana does her part with sincerity. Rajesh Khanna looks weird and ill at ease. Zeenat also lacks charm. Rajiv Varma and Razzaq Khan are not up to mark.

The film is not going to go a long way at the box office for its lack of appeal.
