Director Chandra Mahesh seems to have charted out ‘Hanumanthu’ with an aim of instilling patriotism amongst the young generation. It’s all about a freedom fighter and Srihari plays the lead role. The actor has shifted to action and sentimental films this time around.
Hanumanthu (Srihari) lives with his grandmother (K.R.Vijaya) in a secluded village called Nagulakonda. He is simple yet clever and sharp. There is a man named Krishnamurthy (Pradeep Rawat), a freedom fighter who is respected by everyone. He has tremendous influence over the local governments to Chief Minister.
Hanumanthu falls in love with his uncle's daughter Sathyavathi (Madhu Sharma), who wants to become Miss Andhra. He accompanies her to Hyderabad for the beauty contest. In the city, he meets Krishnamurthy in a peculiar situation. He also meets a person named Seetharamaiah (Vijaya Chandar), who tells him about Krishnamurthy’s true picture. He comes to know that his father Hanumanthiah (Srihari) is the real freedom fighter and that Krishnamurthy has got all his reputations by deceiving him. The rest of the film is all about Hanumanthu’s revenge on Krishnamurthy.
Srihari plays the dual role of Hanumanthu and Hanumanthiah, and he has done it quite well. He has done justice to the roles and heroine Madhu Sharma has pumped in lots of glamour into the film. Their onscreen chemistry is cool. Pradeep Rawath, Vijaya Chandar and other supporting actors have performed well. The technical aspects of the film are also fine with soothing music composed by Vandemataram Srinivas.
Director Chandra Mahesh has succeeded in crafting out a good entertainer. Movie buffs will enjoy watching the film.
