Navdeep is back with ‘Ilavattam’. It is a dubbed version of a Telugu film wherein a few scenes were re-shot. Director Raja Raja has given his best to make it look different from the Telugu version and has provided Tamil nativity.
Srinivas (Navdeep) gets university medal for topping in academics. He however surprises the audience while accepting the award by revealing that he was a life-convict serving a term in prison. He tells his story to a gathering in a flashback.
Srinivas is a brilliant guy from an ordinary middle class family. He meets Lakshmi (Sheela), the daughter of a rich village landlord in his school and they fall in love. However, trouble starts when Lakshmi's uncle Sethupathy (Prithviraj) enters and Srinivas lands up in prison. His strong determination makes him to pursue studies even in prison and he comes out successful at the end. So, will Srinivas and Lakshmi come together in the end? Watch the film to know this.
Navdeep has good role in the film and he has lived up to the expectations. He is energetic and has done good job as a student, lover and a man who is out to prove his worth. Sheela too has done her role well and she has in her to make it big in the films. Other actors like Suhasini, Vijayakumar and Prithviraj have given justice to their roles.
The film is technically fine with peppy tunes composed by Mani Sharma. Selva R has handled the camera well and Raja Muhammad’s editing is also good. On the whole, it is a good entertainer. Director Raja Raja deserves accolades for his daring approach.
