The fighter in Karthik Raja never lets him down. He has managed to put the failure of films like ‘Ullasam’, ‘Aravindhan’ and ‘Kadhala Kadhala’ behind by coming out with a good album for ‘Manadodu Mazhaikalam’. The album in fact has five numbers with substance and quality. The likes of Sukhwinder Singh, Sadhana Sargam and Jassie Gift have lent their voices for the album. It is the orchestration, peppy beats and catchy tunes that have made the album special. Actors like Shaam, Nithya Das and Samiksha play the lead role in this film produced by Anthony and directed by Arpudan.

The number “Kangal Theduthae Kavi Paduthae” is melodious with peppy beats and beautifully sung by Jassie Gift and Sadhana Sargam. However, Sadhana outshines Jassie here. The music director has succeeded in composing a song with catchy tunes. The music and lyrics flow in rhythm.

“Ayiram Vanavil” is the title song of the album. Karthik Raja brings back the memories of his father Ilayaraja's work of the 1980s with this number and he has cleverly used dholaks, tablas and violins. Madhu Balakrishnan and Sadhana have rendered it superbly.

“Panivizhum Kala” is a fast paced romantic number sung by Karthik Raja in the company of Premji and Madhusree. Their voices blend quite well. The music director has tried to fuse east and west through the song. His instrumentation is commendable.

“Welcome to Something” is a foot-tapping number beautifully sung by Sukhwinder Singh and rap by Rahul Seth in between. It has energetic beat to enthrall the people in the dance floors.

“Unakku Enakkum” is the pick of the album. It is all about the days shared by friends in college. So, young college students are sure to love this number. It rings in the mind long after it is heard no more. Lesser names like Saravanan, Priya, Ranjith, Priya and Reethu have rendered the number but the music director has managed to extract the best out of them.

This is another good work from Karthik Raja. He is on his way to reach higher levels.
