Filmmakers have made several films on underworld. Director Udayabanu Maheswaran’s film ‘Naalai’ also belongs to this genre but with a difference. Unlike other gangster films, it is about the friendship shared by two gangsters. Richard and Madhumitha play the lead pair and Nallamuthu produces it.

The director said that it’s a challenge to do a film on the relationship of two individuals who are condemned by the society. He has concentrated on the human side of the characters. He said that everybody goes through bad phase in life but lives with hope of getting on to a better tomorrow. He added that it takes tremendous will power to get out of the bad ways and lead a new life.

The director has roped in technicians from Mumbai to work with their counterparts in Chennai so as to bring about excellent output. It has ad cameraman Nataraj Subramanian as the second hero and Mumbai actor Adityan Srivatsan is making debut in Tamil with this film.

Karthikraja is composing the music, G Ramesh takes care of the camera works, Krishnamurthy-Sivanandan does editing works and Maniraj is the art director.
