Himesh Reshmmiyya and Sameer team up again, this time for a comedy flick ‘Phir Hera Pheri’.  The popular music director –lyricist jodi has delivered some superhit songs in the past. ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ is the sequel of the Firoz Nadiawala production ‘Hera Pher’i. Suneil Shetty who had shown his talent for comedy in the movie ‘Tera Ghar Ye Mera Ghar’ is teaming up with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal to make us laugh our heart out. This is all in all a comedy with some emotional moments.  The music of the original was composed by Anu Malik who losses out to Himesh Reshammiyya who is the man of the moment.

‘Mujhko Yaad Sataye Teri’ is a medium- paced number sung by none other than Himesh Reshmmiyya himself. The nasal tone of Himesh is perfectly suited for this kind of music. He ingeniously varies the pitch to suit his tune. This is a yuppie track with an interesting chorus. Sameer comes out with a well-written verse with the title of the movie finding a place in it. Akbar Sami has made  ‘Mujhko Yaad Sataye Teri’ zippy with more beats and pace. It has become a perfect dance number at the hands of remix king Akbar Sami.

‘Ae Meri Zohrajabeen’ is another song crooned by Himesh. It is done in the typical Himesh style. He has given this tune a boost with his voice. This song has all the hit ingredients of Himesh Reshammiyya hits- whispering female voice, solo violin and heavy percussion. The original with its peppy music leaves no place for improvement. So there is nothing Sami could do to improve on this song. It is a fast, vivacious number suited for a Saturday night out.

‘Dil Nayyiyo Maane Re’ is another chart buster from Himesh Reshammiyya. This time Himesh teams up with Tulsi Kumar. Both this singers compliments each other well. They had two outing together. Both were hits. This time also the result is same. Once again Himesh with his unique style of singing enhances the beauty of the song. To stand out from the original Akbar Sami makes the sounds echoing. This new technique will surely add to its popularity.

Next song ‘Pyar Ki Chatni’ is a situational number done in a nautanki style. Dia mirza dances to these lines. There is not much to say about this song. It caters to the taste of a specific audience in the theatre. It has a rural background.  Sunidhi Chauhan sings this song.   The lyric is very poor. The remixed version is worse.

´Dil De Diya’ is rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala. Their energy transforms this song to a better one. This song lacks the Reshammiyya flavor. It is influence by a western track. Those who miss Anu Malik and his music will be pleased to hear this one.

Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Rakesh Upadhyaya sing the next song, a funny number, ‘Phir Hera Pheri’. We can hear the clinging of coins in the background. This is a story about three men who tries all means to make some money. The song conveys their greed. This is the theme song of the movie.  We have heard a similar song in the first version of this film in the voices of Hariharan, Abhijeet and Vinod Rathod. The song has a striking resemblance with the classical notes of Ennio Morricone‘s ‘The Good The Bad and The Ugly’. Shaan is superb in this song.  Sonu Nigam’s voice cannot be heard in this one. The remixed version is a longer one with a lot of additional notes.

To sum up, Reshmmiyya has done a commendable job with a comic flick where the music plays little part. The music cannot be called fresh, it has the same flavour as his earlier songs. But you cannot call it monotonous also. This is an album that contains three types of songs- good, bad and ugly. The ones sung by Himesh come in the first category. The nautangi song ‘Pyar Ki Chatni’ is in the last group. The fans of Himesh will enjoy this album.
