Gangster movies are the order of the day. Director Hari Kumar’s latest film ‘Thoothukudi’ also tells about relationship between two gangsters. It would be better if it has different subject but the director deserves accolades for making a mark even in the absence of big names. It has enough twists and turns to make the audience stay glued to the screens all through.
Good-hearted Maha (Harikumar) goes to jail after a fight with a dishonest policeman who demands bribe. His life looks dim even in the prison. He comes across Lingam (Rahman), a dreaded gangster and ends up fighting in the jail. Their enmity continues and Lingam injures Maha. However, he takes him to the hospital. Now, their bitter relationship turns sweet. Maha becomes Lingam’s henchman. He is all out to do away with Lingam’s enemy Katathurai. Will he accomplice his mission? Watch the film to know the result.
Debutants Harikumar and Karthika have done good job in the film. In fact, their romantic sequences provide a great relief to the viewers. However, it is Rahman who has carried the burden with so much of ease. Pravin Mani’s musical score and background music are good. Jeevan’s cinematography and Sai Suresh’s editing are commendable.
On the whole, it is a good film with ample action to keep the viewers on their toes. You will have good time watching the film.
