In a comedy film you rarely expect hit songs. But it has to have some good songs perfectly suited to the theme of the movie. Usually it is the scenes that makes or mars the songs in this genre of movies. Take for example the two Amitabh Bachan numbers ‘Ke Pag Gungroo Band meera Naachi Re’ and ‘ Mere Angane Mein Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai’. Even if your television is mute you can make out the song. This is what songs in a comedy film do.
But the new comedy flick from the director of ‘Nayee Padosan’ Tharun Kumar does not boast of any such songs. Even though it is written by the likes of Dev Kohli and Praveen Bharadwaj, it fails to make its mark on the movie. Anand Raj Anand along with Daboo Malik and Nikhil- Vinay composes the songs of this one. The movie stars the new comer Aarnav Bhatia and Parmita. You can also see Rish Kapoor, Satish Shah and Shoma Anand in a supporting role.
The songs in this album ‘Love Ke Chakkar Mein’ start in the usual comedy mode with 'Fat Fat Fatafat Pyaar Ho Gaya' starting the proceedings. The words of this song itself tell you what kind of a song is it. It is another funny number. The tune does not look fresh, but it is so catchy that it lingers with you for some time. Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam sing these Dev Kohli lyrics. Anand Raj Anand is the music director.
The next song of this album is 'Love Ke Chakkar Mein'. This is the theme song of the movie. Nikhil- Vinay composes it. It is a fast track in the voice of Farhad Bhiwaniwala. It sounds similar to the songs you have heard in Hrishikesh Mukharjee movies. Farhad has sung this song very beautifully. This song is not the one you will carry with you. But it is very important in the context of the movie. The story is unfolded through this song. Praveen Bharadwaj has written the lyrics.
'Hum They Aasmaan Pe' is another song in the same mode. This time it is Daboo Mlik who has done the composition. After hearing these three songs from three music directors you wonder whether they were asked to follow the music of 70’s and 80’s. This number sung by Shaan has simple tune and lyrics. Praveen Bhardwaj writes the lyrics. Like the former track this one also is good to listen. But it does not have a long lasting effect on you.
When you hear the next number 'Ek Kamre Mein Hum Tum’ does it remind you of any other song? Yes, you guessed it right, the Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh song ‘ Hum Tum Ek Kamare Mein Bandh Ho’. Here also the situation is the same- a girl and boy locked up in a room. Sunidhi Chauhan croons this sensuous song. Anand Raj Anand composes the Dev Kohli lyrics. It is another average track.
'Suno Na' is far better than the other songs in this album. Alka Yagnik’s rendition makes this one stand over all the other compositions in this album. This is a sweet and soft melodious song. It is written by Praveen Bharadwaj and is composed by Daboo Malik. This one comes close to the romantic melodies of 90’s. It is a likable song.
'Sach Hai Sanam' is the last song in this album. It is another song influenced by the old romantic melodies. (Is there any original composition in this album!) Shaan and Sadhana Sargam sing this Praveen Bharadwaj lyric. Anand Raj Anand is the music composer. This song falls softly on your years. Another lovable track, but you will forget this song as soon as you are out of the theatres.
In short the songs in ‘Love Ke Chakkar Mein’ is not very bad. But as it uses the same old tune, why should you listen to this? Why can’t you go and listen to the old songs that are far better than the ones you hear nowadays? The songs in this album are ok. But none of them can be called memorable.
