Movie Review : Uyir

Producer: R.Balaji
Director: Saminathan
Cast: Srikanth, Samvrutha, Sangeetha
Music: Joshua Sridhar

Saminathan deserves praises for his good work in his very debut film ‘Uyir’. He has managed to extract the best from his star cast. The film is all about a widow trying to marry her brother-in-law.

Sundar (Srikanth) comes to Ooty and lives with his brother's family after completing his studies. He falls in love with his neighbor Anandi (Samvrutha). In the meantime, his brother commits suicide, and thus the family’s responsibilities fall on him. Now, his sister-in-law Arundhati (Sangeetha) begins to have a soft corner for him. She even comes to know his affair with Anandi. You have to watch the film to know how Sundar solves the problem and marries his love Anandi.

Srikanth is splendid in his role and has shown lots of maturity. His body language and dialogue delivery is good. The plot revolves around Sangeetha, and she has handled it all with ease. Samvritha also has succeeded in pouring glamour into the film. Cinematography and Joshua Sridhar’s music are commendable.

On the whole, Saminathan has succeeded in doing something different. He has at least managed to move away from gangster films that have become the order of the day.
