Direction: Sami Cast: Srikanth, Samvrutha, Sangeetha Music: Joshua Sridhar
Joshua Sridhar is back to music scenario after almost a couple of years. He has composed five tracks with main concentration on melody. However, he has failed to live up to the expectations set by the success of his last film ‘Kadhal’. He has sung three of the five songs along with Haricharan, Mahathy, Saindhavi and others besides scoring the tunes.
‘Uyir’ is said to be a romantic entertainer. Srikanth, Samvrutha and Sangeetha are in the lead roles and Sami is the director.
“Convent Sollitharum” is a peppy number giving right momentum to the album. It is a hip-hop kind of stuff with heavy beats and racy music. The use of instruments is impressive. Tippu has sung the number but he should have brought about some variation in his singing.
“Udhadum Udhadum” is a song with lively tune with soft lyrics and music. Music director Joshua seems to be inspired by one of his songs from ‘Kadhal’. Karthik and Saindhavi have sung it well. However, Purushthoman’s Thavil is the highlight of the number.
“Aanum Ponnum” is a melodious number with soft tunes. The fusion of rural folk and western percussion is really interesting. Joshua’s voice goes along so well with Naveen's flute. This song is perhaps the pick of the album.
“Kaan Simittum Neram” is another melodious number sung by Haricharan, Saindhavi and Mahathy. Na Muthukumar’s youthful lyrics go along so well with the soft tunes of the song. Joshua has cleverly used percussion instruments, giving right effect once again.
“Kanne Kadhal Nilame” is another good song with elements of east and west fused together. Joshua has used various instruments for the song including nadhaswaram. Pradeep, Joshua Sridhar and Harini Sudhakar have sung the number well. This song is sure to hit the audio charts hard.
In a nutshell, this album is impressive. Joshua has delivered the right goods once again though his work in his last film ‘Kadhal’ has the upper edge.
