‘Pokiri’ is a romantic action thriller film with mafia gang backdrop. It has Mahesh Babu and Ileana in the lead pair. Manjula Sanjay produces it on Indira Productions banner and Puri Jagannadh directs it.

The director revealed that ‘Pokiri’ is a cocktail of love and action. Prakash Raj is the leader of a mafia gang and Ashish Vidyardhi plays a role with negative shade. Sayaji Shinde plays the role of a police officer. The street-smart hero, who is into small gang wars, suddenly takes on the mighty mafia. Heroine of the film plays the role of an aerobics trainer.
 
It is said that Mahesh looks different in the film with long hair and rugged clothes. The film was shot mainly at the Binny Mills in Chennai. The other cast of the film includes Isai, Ali, Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav , Jyothi Rana and Subbaraju.

The film has music by Manisharma and Vijayan is the stunt director. Jagan has written it story, screenplay and dialogues while Shyam K. Naidu handles the camera work.
