Ram Gopal Verma’s  ‘Darna Zaroori Hai’ is a sequel to his horror movie ‘Darna Mana Hai’. With ‘Darna Mana Hai’ he started a new trend called Portmanteau movies. Continuing with the experiment he incorporates seven horror stories in his new movie Darna Zaroori Hai.  Unlike the first one that was directed by one director, this new movie has been directed by seven different directors.

There are seven scary tales in this. Ramgopal Varma has roped in the who’s who of the Hindi film industry. From Amitabh Bachan to Arjun Rampal all play a role in the movie.

The first story has Manoj Pahva in the lead. It talks about a movie buff who watches all the new releases in the night show on the release day itself. But this particular day he goes to the movie ignoring his mother’s warning. And he never comes back. Sajid Khan directs this one.

Next one has Amitabh and Ritesh Deshmukh in the lead role.  Ramgopal Varma himself directs this one. The story is about an old professor who always feels the presence of a stranger in his home. One day he tells his student about this experience. But his student rubbishes it as the professor’s imagination. But to their surprise the spirit manifests itself in the mirror.

Then comes the experience of a lone stranger in a crazy household. There is a man and his wife in the house. To scare the stranger up they call the spirit. Spirit arrives but declines to go back. The story has Arjun Rampal as the stranger. Bipasha Basu and Makrand Deshpande play the man and wife. Prawal Raman directs this one.

Next in line is the Vivek Shah directed tale. It has Suneil Shetty, Sonali Kulkarni and Rajpal Yadav. Rajpal is a thief. He comes to the house of Suniel and Sonali. He introduces himself as an insurance agent. But in the end he shows his true color.

The next three stories are ghostly plus suspense tales. The first one narrates the experience of a filmmaker (Anil Kapoor) on his way to his private bungalow in Khandala. Next story is about a young man (Randeep Hooda) who was fixed in a murder case. The last story involves an old woman. She tells some horror tales to young kids. On hearing this story they die one after another.

Jijy Philip is the director of the Anil Kapoor episode while Chakravarthy directs Randeep Hooda one and Manish Gupta directs the old woman one.
 
Taabish Romani and Nitin Raikwar who have written the lyrics of this movie join hands with Salim and Sulaiman Merchant for its music. Background music is by Amar Mohile and Amit Roy, Ravi Walia, Kiran Reddy, Atarsingh Saini, Amal Neerad and Ayhan Ghanim are the cinematographers.
