Producer: A M Rathnam Director: Dharani Cast: Pawan Kalyan, Meera Chopra, Reema Sen Music: Vidya Sagar
With ‘Bangaram’, director Dharani brings to light the life of a journalist who lands up in conspiracies and confusions. The journalist goes out of his usual duty and plays an important part in bringing a lover couple together. This escapist entertainer relies on Pawan's mass image for a lift.
Bangaram (Pawan), a TV journalist has a dream, and that it to work with BBC. But his dream takes a beating, as he finds life really tough in the local channel he works with. He ends up in Peddi Reddy’s (Mukesh Rishi) house following a series of events. Interestingly, Peddi is the head of the TV channel.
It happens that local factionist leader Bhuma Reddy (Ashutosh Raina) is trying to get his brother married to Peddi Reddy's daughter Sandhya (Meera Chopra). However, Sandhya is in love with another man named Vinay (Raja). Now, Bangaram comes to know this internal problem and begins to work towards uniting Sandhya and Vinay. In the meantime, he comes across another journalist (Reema Sen) and has some good time with her.
Pawan is cool and funny all through the film and his performance as a journalist is good. He turns a bit serious towards the end of the film. His dance sequences and dialogues are superb and sure to make his fans happy. The way he imitates Meera and her father is funny. He would have done even better if the script were good.
Meera Chopra is cute and has done her job well. She has also showcased her acting talents in bits. Mukesh Rishi and Ashutosh Raina are fine but Reema Sen and Raja have nothing much to do. However, Trisha’s special appearance adds spice to the film.
The music of the film by Vidyasagar is good. Its rhythm and beat suits the script to the ‘T’. Its camera work and stunts are also fine. However, script has let down the film to some extent. Unlike Dharani’s previous films, ‘Bangaram’ lacks speed and entertainment. It would have been much better if the script were good. Still, Pawan Kalyan fans will love watching it.
