Audio Review : Heat of the summer

Too much of anything is bad. Of course, music lovers expect something great when someone like Yuvan composes music for films with youthful themes. But unfortunately, he has used too much of youth for the album of ‘Ram’, thus making it a bore. In fact, it is difficult to make out the songs, as most of the numbers has similar tune. This raises the temperature of the listeners. "Kurbhani" and "Nuvena" are the picks of the album.

"Shock" is an energetic song with heavy beat all through. Shaan, Aanchal, Suchitra, Premji have rendered the song but it is difficult to follow the lyrics. Shaan has done a very good job but Aanchal needs to work on pronunciation. The phrase "Perige tuphaanu beech gaa...I get Shock, shock, shock.." in the song is sweet and the chorus is also well sung. It takes time to catch the song yet youngsters will surely love it.

"Nuvena" is a melodious and romantic number that catches your attention at the very start. Shweta and Haricharan have sung well and the chorus has added beauty to the number. The interludes are impressive with decent lyrics by Chandrabose. This song is certainly the pick of the album.

"Made in Hyderabad" is a good song well sung by Shankar Mahadevan. It starts with a humming female voice and gets into fast beat. Shankar’s peppy voice has added energy to the number. It has the ingredients of making the viewers shake their legs to its tunes. However, the prospect of this song depends on how the director depicts it on screen. Yuvan has provided a platform for the choreographer to showcase his talents. In the meantime, this kind of numbers doesn’t stick to the mind for a long time.

"Kurbhani" is a typical Yuvan number. He has rendered it quite well though it is hard to identify Sadhana Sargam’s voice. It starts off with great promise but loses its pace in the midway. It would have been a wonderful song if Yuvan takes little more care. However, it would become popular among the music lovers.

"Pilla Bhale" is a catchy number with shades of folk. Tippu and Sindhani’s voice have added more spice to it. It is a good mass song that would make the audience sway. Music lovers would surely love this song.

This album is ordinary as compared to Yuvan’s previous works. He seems to have gone out of control, as all the songs sound similar. You may enjoy the songs in the theatres but not at home.
