Movie Review : Meri Jung

Producer: Nagarjuna
Director: Raghava Lawrence
Cast: Nagarjuna, Jyothika, Sunil, Raghuvaran, Rahul Dev
Music: Devi Sri Prasad

With ‘Meri Jung’ Nagarjuna is coming north again. His action thriller ‘Shiva’ did fairly well in the Hindi Belt. This time again Nagarjuna is coming up with the same kind of story. The story of a man who fights against the bad men to avenge the killing of his loved ones.

One of the specialties of this movie is that it is the debut movie of dance master turned director Raghava Lawrence. This movie star Nagarjuna, Jyothika, Sunil, Raghuvaran and Rahul Dev. Music is by Devi Sri Prasad.

Ganesh( Nagarjuna) is an orphen. He works as a mechanic. Adi (Suni) is his best friend. Ganesh falls in love with a rich girl Anjali (Jyothika). Unaware of her family background Adi arranges for the wedding of both Ganesh and Anjali. But her father a don comes to the scene and kills Adi. Anjali was dragged out of the place and was kept in an unknown place. Ganesh could not bear the double grief. He pledges to avenge the death of his friend. From then on it is another Ganesh. He takes on the dons single handedly. The rest of the story is very predictable.

Raghava Lawrence has done well as a first timer. The story is very stale. But Lawrence with his treatment has made it a watchable movie. He has adopted an interesting way of story telling.  Even the song sequences are shot in a very beautiful setting. Nagarjuna once again proves that when it comes to dancing he can outdo any of the younger lots. Even though the dance and song sequences are of good quality, the music is lackluster. Devi Prasad fails to come up with some good scores.

Nagarjuna and Jyothika fares well. Raghuvaran as the villain shines. Rahul Dev does a good job. Sunil is ok. As a whole the casting is good.

Action scenes are very powerful. Choreography should be appreciated.

In short, if you are an action movie fan never miss this. This is a thorough entertainer.
